First Canvass in East L.A. on Saturday!

by markh on September 22, 2009

Come canvass in East L.A.!

Come canvass in East L.A.!

After tackling turf all over Northeast L.A. (Glendale, Pasadena) and South L.A. (Inglewood and surrounding), Vote for Equality is excited to be organizing our first canvass in East Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 26 (10am-3pm, training in Boyle Heights).

We are partnering with HONOR PAC, as well as Equality California, The National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, Equal Roots, and Love Honor Cherish, to recruit volunteers to talk to voters in communities in East L.A.

Come have conversations with voters about why the freedom to marry for LGBT couples is important to you — whether you’re LGBT, or a straight ally. Help to identify supporters, and pick away at the layers that will start to change the hearts and minds of people who voted Yes on Prop 8. At Vote for Equality, we’ve knocked on over 16,000 doors so far in 2009, on the road to restoring marriage equality. Along the way, we’ve been tracking voters’ responses to questions we ask during our conversations, so we can better prepare our messages for the next campaign.

¿Hablas español? ¡Necesitamos tu ayuda!

Join us on Saturday to continue this strategic work! We provide a full training, and experienced coaches will help you roleplay conversations with voters before you head out.  There’s also a lunch provided during the canvass debrief.  For those proficient in Spanish, we have a Spanish-language version of our script.
